  5. Your quick checklist

Finding a cable takes more than a similar product photograph. A clear description of the application and required specification makes the search easier. This checklist helps you gather the relevant details.

1. Describe the application

Start with the purpose: will the cable connect a machine, wire a control cabinet, connect network devices or form part of a photovoltaic system? Also note where it will be installed and whether the connection is fixed or moving.

2. Use an existing part number

To reorder a known item, search for the complete manufacturer part number. Then check that the required variant, packaging unit and length match your order. A similar name alone is not enough to identify the item.

3. Gather the technical requirements

Have the details from your design ready, such as the number of cores, cross-section, required connectors and requirements for materials and the operating environment. Compare them with the datasheet for the specific product. Its product group does not replace this check.

4. Specify the quantity and variant

State whether you need a particular length, a coil or another packaging unit. For several items, prepare a list with the part number, required variant and quantity for each item.

Your quick checklist

  • Application and installation environment
  • Manufacturer and complete part number, if available
  • Technical requirements from your design
  • Required length, variant and quantity
